Twelve Days of Releases from OpenAI
OpenAI is currently holding an event they're calling "Twelve Days of OpenAI" during which, each day, they are releasing and announcing new products and features. As of today they are on day 6 and, so far, have announced things such as ChatGPT Pro (their $200 per month ChatGPT subscription; see below), their video generator Sora, and more. GM Shutting Down Cruise
In a shock to its employees, automaker GM is shutting down its autonomous robo-taxi company, Cruise. They acquired Cruise back in 2016 and hoped to quickly have a commercial fleet of taxis, but only received regulatory approval last year. GM says, though, that they will absorb much of the company into internal teams where the self-driving tech will "live on".

Russia Caught Using Voice AI for Propaganda
ElevenLabs' voice generation technology has been used by Russian disinformation groups to help sway opinions in Europe against support for Ukraine. The impact of their operations was said to be "minimal", but is still a warning to everyone of the dangers of AI. It's also doubtful that this is the first and last time AI will be used in such a way.

AMD’s Lisa Su Named CEO of the Year
AMD's CEO, Lisu Su, has been named Time 'CEO of the Year'. The achievement is in recognition of her taking a flailing company and turning around their fortunes, including in the areas of AI. While AMD still lags behind the AI king, Nvidia, Su has set and met many ambitious goals with her team.
Amazon Creating AGI Lab
Amazon is moving into the AGI space with what they've named their Amazon AGI SF Lab. The research and development lab will be built in San Francisco, and be lead by co-founder of Adept, David Luan. They say their aim is to develop AI agents that can "take actions in the digital and physical worlds."
China Launches Antitrust Probe Against Nvidia
It's been reported that China's market regulator has opened a probe into Nvidia's acquisition of Mellanox, who focusses on creating high-performance chips used in supercomputers. Nvidia spent almost $7 billion to acquire the Israel-based company in 2019.
