AI Leadership Weekly · Issue #53 · Tuesday 14 October 2025 · 08:00 BST
Good morning.
Google has put a new workplace platform on the table. IBM is bringing Claude into its enterprise software-development offer. OpenAI, meanwhile, is planning the infrastructure behind much larger-scale use. Together, the announcements put three practical questions in front of leaders: where people work, how changes get delivered, and what it will cost to run them. Here is what changed this week.
IN 60 SECONDS
Google launches Gemini Enterprise. Google introduced a workplace platform connecting company information, applications and agents, with tools for building and deploying additional agents.
IBM works with Anthropic. The companies announced an enterprise development partnership, beginning with an AI-assisted coding environment in private preview.
OpenAI plans new accelerator capacity. OpenAI and Broadcom announced a 10-gigawatt collaboration, targeting deployment from the second half of 2026 through 2029.
CEO / COO / CXO CHECKLIST
CEO: Name the business owner before selecting another tool.
COO: Specify what AI may read, recommend and change; require approval for consequential actions.
CXO: Measure completed work, including review, rework and operating cost.
TOP STORIES
1. Google launches Gemini Enterprise
Google · 9 October 2025
What happened. On 9 October, Google introduced Gemini Enterprise: a conversational platform for working with company documents, data and applications, alongside tools for building and deploying agents and a set of pre-built agents.
Why it matters. Our take: Treat this as an operating-model decision, not simply a new search box. Your first question should be which information an employee should be able to reach, followed by which actions the business is willing to delegate.
What to do. Pick a knowledge-heavy activity, such as preparing a customer handover. Define the approved sources, the person who checks the result and the access restrictions. Compare the complete handover process with today’s approach before extending access more widely.
2. IBM works with Anthropic
IBM · 7 October 2025
What happened. On 7 October, IBM and Anthropic announced plans to integrate Claude into selected IBM products, starting with an AI-first software development environment. It was in private preview with selected clients, with security, governance and cost controls forming part of the proposed approach.
Why it matters. Our take: A useful business case should follow a change through review, testing and release. Faster drafting is not enough when approval queues, defects or rework consume the saving. Do not turn a supplier’s productivity claim into your own savings commitment.
What to do. Ask a delivery team to trial one bounded change. Record elapsed time, review effort, test results and rework against comparable recent changes. Let the evidence decide whether to expand the trial.
3. OpenAI plans new accelerator capacity
OpenAI · 13 October 2025
What happened. On 13 October, OpenAI and Broadcom announced a collaboration for 10 gigawatts of OpenAI-designed AI accelerators. Their target was to begin deploying systems in the second half of 2026 and finish by the end of 2029. The announcement described a signed deployment term sheet, not an already completed build-out.
Why it matters. Our take: Keep infrastructure ambition separate from what a supplier can contractually provide your business today. A future capacity announcement is not a guarantee of your price, response time or service availability.
What to do. For one proposed AI service, ask for its cost per completed task at expected and doubled usage. Include human checking, failed attempts and fallback arrangements. Decide what happens when the service is unavailable before depending on it.

THE 15-MINUTE PLAYBOOK
Put an owner around one AI workflow
Minutes 0–4: Choose the result. Pick one recurring activity, such as producing a customer handover or preparing a supplier comparison. Write down the expected output and the current effort.
Minutes 4–8: Draw the boundaries. Agree the permitted information, the allowed actions and the point at which a person must approve. Name whoever stops the trial when something goes wrong.
Minutes 8–12: Define the test. Select representative examples, including an awkward case. Compare the AI-assisted result with your normal quality standard. Count checking time and rework, not just generation time.
Minutes 12–15: Make the decision explicit. Assign one owner, a review date and a clear decision: expand, amend or stop. Keep the record to one page.
The output is not an AI strategy deck. It is a testable business change with an owner.
DATA WAVE MOMENT
Start with the workflow, not the demo. Connect the business goal to the data, the people, the controls and the measure of success. That is the brief to take into your next AI conversation.
