Biden/White House push for wider use of AI within government
Looking for opportunities within government? The Biden administration published a memorandum on AI, urging federal agencies to adopt more AI tools within their operations. The aim is for the US to take a leading role with the ever-growing field of AI tools, and to help instill more democratic values within its use.

OpenAI’s head advisor for ‘AGI Readiness’ resigns, safety team disbanded
OpenAI's senior advisor on AGI Readiness, Miles Brundage, is leaving the company to explore roles elsewhere. Brundage says he may start a non-profit, and that he has accomplished all of his goals at OpenAI. This also comes with the news that their "AGI Readiness" team is disbanding, on the heels of the Superalignment team closing down in May this year.

New OpenAI model—Orion—scheduled for December, coming first to Microsoft Azure customers
OpenAI's latest model—codenamed Orion, and speculated to be named GPT-5—is releasing this December, and is claimed to be “100 times more powerful" than GPT-4. It's also rumoured that it will first be available on Microsoft's Azure platform.

X/Twitter changes TOS to scrape your data
Coming into effect on November 15th, X's new TOS allows them to—amongst other things—scrape user data for AI training purposes. Many other services already do this—or are suspected to—so it will be worthwhile keeping an eye on user numbers and engagement to see any negative impacts.

OpenAI CFO Says 75% of revenue comes from paying customers
This comes from both ChatGPT users (who number in the hundreds of millions of weekly users) and enterprise customers. They are surprised by the industry’s strong growth, and it proves that there is demand for AI tools, especially with easy and smooth UX.

More than a quarter of Google’s new code is created by AI
This is just one example given of how AI is boosting Google’s productivity and market cap. They also tout their ongoing move towards AI-powered search.

Netherlands government seeks public input on crypto tax regulations
The Netherland, and the EU in general, are cracking down on tax avoidance and evasion by using crypto, and are seeking public input on forthcoming tax laws. It is a sign that, while governments can move slow, AI regulation may not be far off too.

Perplexity AI seeks to double its valuation
The company started 2024 with a valuation of only $500 million, but has already raised three funding rounds this year. It's now eyeing a forth, which would raise its market cap to $9 billion.

Midjourney releases new image editor
Midjourney now lets you upload your own photos/images and manipulate them with Midjourney tools! Its access is temporarily limited, though, to either paid or long-term users of Midjourney.

PodLM will take content from URLs, text, and documents, then create an AI-powered podcast for you.
